HSU secretly paid Craig Thomson $160000 - report - NEWS.com.au

Labor MP Craig Thomson The probe into Labor MP Craig Thomson's previous union dealings has been going on for more than a year. Picture: Gary Ramage Source: The Daily Telegraph

EMBATTLED federal Labor MP Craig Thomson received a secret payment of $160,000 from the Health Services Union (HSU) three years after he had entered Parliament, a report says.

Mr Thomson left the union in 2007 when he became the member for the New South Wales?Central Coast seat of Dobell.

But Fairfax Media has obtained documents showing that in September 2010, the HSU agreed to pay him $129,555 in entitlements plus $30,000 to settle a defamation claim he had brought against the union and his successor as national secretary, Kathy Jackson.

At the time of the payout, Mr Thomson was suing Fairfax Media over the allegations and had been recently re-elected as a federal MP.

Subsequently, the NSW branch of the Labor Party paid $150,000 in Mr Thomson's legal bills to prevent him becoming a bankrupt, which would have excluded him from office and caused the collapse of the minority government.

Former and current HSU officials - including Mr Thomson - are the subject of two Fair Work Australia (FWA) investigations, police probes in NSW and Victoria and an internal inquiry by former corruption buster Ian Temby QC.

The report is understood to deal with financial mismanagement of the HSU when Mr Thomson was national secretary, including alleged credit card misuse by him.

Mr Thomson, who denies any wrongdoing during his time with the union from 2002 to 2007, has declined to cooperate with the Victorian police investigation on legal advice.

Mark Kenny - why the Coalition's talk doesn't add up - Adelaide Now

Joe Hockey Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey has changed direction in recent times. Picture: Kym Smith Source: AdelaideNow

WHEN Tony Abbott went to London last year, he talked up the Australian economy against that of Britain, other European economies, and the US.

The Opposition Leader?noted?our low level of public debt as a proportion of GDP.

"On the face of this comparative performance, Australia has serious bragging rights," he said in a major speech.

"Compared with most developed countries, our economic circumstances are enviable."

It was a surprising departure from an Opposition that had taken to constantly ringing the alarm bells about unsustainable borrowings to fund government profligacy.

When chief economic spokesman Joe Hockey came out of the blocks following the Budget last year, he also had envy in mind - albeit in a different context.

Responding to Labor's plans to modestly rein in middle-class welfare through such measures as phasing out tax concessions for dependent spouses without children and extending a freeze in the threshold for family tax benefit eligibility at $150,000 a year, Mr Hockey was blunt.

"I despise this envy, this envy and this jealousy," he said.

"I despise the way Labor turns Australians on Australians and the way they're trying to turn Australians on others who may have a household income of $75,000 a year or $100,000 a year or $150,000 a year."

This week it was Mr Hockey's turn to travel to ol' Blighty for a bit of straight talking and once again there was a change in direction.

"All government-funded pensions and other such payments must be means-tested so that people who do not need them do not get them," he stated.

And he went further, suggesting that the real competitors to the Australian economy were now our Asian neighbours whose welfare costs were small - Korea at 10?per cent of GDP compared to say France at 30?per cent and Australia at 16?per cent.

"Western nations are in financial trouble and they are in financial trouble because, like a bad parent, over the years they have always said to voters you can have what you want and sooner or later it comes to an end when the burden of debt starts to cripple their economy," he said in what could hardly be a more damning critique of the Howard government's formula.

Although to give him his due, he does concede that point.

"Do you admit to being guilty yourself of this when last in government?" he was asked by Tony Jones on ABC's Lateline.

"Yes ... we did it, I mean, there are times when we did it, of course."

Mr Hockey's argument now is that we should perhaps look more to the Asian examples because "we can no longer compare ourselves with Europe and the United States, which have massive fiscal and structural problems".

So with that said, what is the Opposition's response?

It continues to support generous family payments, rejecting the term "middle class welfare" in favour of appropriate support for working families.

And if Mr Hockey now believes all welfare and pension payments should be means tested, his indignation at last year's relatively modest Budget measures seems curiously inconsistent.

Better still, how does the Opposition explain away its extremely generous paid parental leave scheme that would see bankers paid at their full salaries up to $150,000 per year for six months absence from work while a cleaner would be paid at a much lower rate?

Then, of course, there is the private health insurance rebate that the Opposition refuses to means test despite much hand-wringing over the deficit.

" ... the private health insurance means test, which isn't a reform, it's a rip-off," Mr Abbott said on February 17 and more recently, on March 6, described it as "an attack on middle Australia".

Rather than opening the debate about welfare sustainability in this country, Mr Hockey's latest piece of thinking has gifted Julia Gillard with a new angle of attack.

"Who's going to get the cuts, what is going to be cut, what can working families expect from Mr Abbott if he's ever prime minister?" she asked.

The debate over payments is a material threat to the Coalition's popularity because it goes to the question of money in people's pockets.

Top bureaucrat under investigation - report - NEWS.com.au

A SENIOR Baillieu Government bureaucrat responsible for policing the ethical standards of the Victorian public service has been stood down while her role in a car crash is investigated, according to a report.

Karen Cleave, CEO of the State Services Authority, allegedly told police she was driving her government car when it hit a tree, but later changed her story, saying her 18-year-old son was driving, the Herald Sun reports.

Read more on this story at the Herald Sun (subscription content).

The car was destroyed in the collision in East Malvern, in Melbourne's southeast.

A woman at the scene of the crash told police she was driving, but a witness told police a boy was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

Police would not comment on the issue to the Herald Sun.

A government spokesman confirmed Ms Cleave had been stood down pending the outcome of the investigation.

The State Services Authority is responsible for lifting the professionalism of Victoria's public sector agencies.

Vic govt 'should help keep Qantas jobs' - BigPond News

Qantas workers want assurances their jobs in Victoria will remain, the state opposition says.

The Victorian government came under pressure during question time on Thursday to reveal what it was doing to keep the airline's heavy maintenance jobs in the state.

Premier Ted Baillieu told parliament the government was making representations to the airline to avoid the jobs being relocated.

Qantas announced in February that 500 jobs would be made redundant nationally and further positions were on the line as it reviewed heavy maintenance and catering operations employing more than 2000 people.

The airline wants to consolidate its three heavy-maintenance bases - at Tullamarine and Avalon in Victoria and in Brisbane - to remain sustainable.

The sites collectively employ about 1400 people.

Qantas Tullamarine worker of 11 years Anthony Surace said he wanted the government to act.

'At the moment we're seeing nothing and they're not coming out to say, 'This is what we're doing,' so it's disappointing,' he told reporters.

Mr Surace said waiting on an outcome was hard on workers, and he wanted the government to offer some form of security.

'We have niche skills. We don't know where we're going to go after this,' he said.

Opposition leader Daniel Andrews said people's livelihoods were at stake, and Premier Ted Baillieu needed to fight to save their jobs.

'He needs to get out from under his desk, get off his backside and do whatever it takes to keep these maintenance jobs in our state for a strong future for this industry,' he told reporters.

Mr Baillieu told parliament the government would lobby the airline.

'We are going to present a strong case to Qantas,' he said.

Solar power would boost Port Augusta: BZE - Yahoo!7 News

Port Augusta's ageing brown coal power stations should be replaced with base-load solar thermal power to improve the town's health and create jobs, a think tank says.

Renewable energy researchers, Beyond Zero Emissions (BZE), has released its Repowering Port Augusta report which it says presents compelling economic, health and environmental case for replacing the old power plants in the South Australian town.

BZE's Mark Ogge says that replacing the power stations with renewable energy would create 1800 jobs, improve the health of the local community, provide lower and more stable energy prices and save 100-200 million tonnes of CO2 emissions over the lifetime of the project.

He said that power station owner Alinta Energy, Port Augusta City Council and Mayor Joy Baluch all backed the solar thermal power proposal as their preferred option for replacing the coal-fired power plants in Port Augusta.

Ms Baluch said gas and coal plants would damage the health of her community.

"The health of the people in Port Augusta has been affected by this coal-fired power station for the last 40 years and statistics prove this," she said.

"We need to see solar thermal energy developed in South Australia and for us to become world leaders in this renewable energy. Certainly gas is not the answer."

The report will be launched in Adelaide on Thursday and in Port Augusta on Saturday.

WWII Spitfire pilot Sgt William Smith laid to rest - BBC News

19 April 2012 Last updated at 15:54 GMT Sgt William Smith Sgt William Smith was 24 years old when he was shot down The body of an Australian World War II Spitfire pilot whose remains were found in a French field last year has finally been buried in northern France.

Sgt William Smith was buried with full military honours at a service near Cassel attended by his 84-year-old brother Bert and other family members.

It was thought Sgt Smith, who was based in Surrey, was shot down over the Channel off Dover by an enemy pilot.

But his remains were discovered in a French field by a Sussex historian.

Sgt Smith's funeral took place at 10:30 BST at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission section of Cassel cemetery.

About 20 family members travelled from Australia to pay their respects.

'Disappeared over Channel'

The 24-year-old sergeant's Royal Australian Air Force squadron was posted to Redhill and in May 1942 he had been escorting RAF bombers to France when he was shot down.

When his plane could not be found it was assumed he had crashed into the sea.

His aircraft was discovered by historian Andy Saunders and a film crew when they were looking for the wreckage of another Spitfire.

Sgt Smith's dogtags were found at the crash site Sgt Smith's dogtags were found at the crash site

"We were specifically looking for another Spitfire, the pilot of which had bailed out. There was obviously some confusion locally about which aeroplane had crashed where," Mr Saunders said.

"It was a complete surprise to find Sgt Smith. All the records showed that he had disappeared mid-way across the Channel between the French coast and Dover.

"He was last seen at 20,000ft heading back toward England."

'Fight for freedom'

Sgt Smith's body was found with his dogtags in a field about 40 miles from the French coast.

"No-one knew he was there," said Mr Saunders.

When the remains were discovered, the local police, the Ministry of Defence in London and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission started work to trace Sgt Smith's family in Australia.

"What these men did was absolutely amazing," said Mr Saunders.

"He had come half way around the world to fight in the cause of freedom and lost his life."

Human remains found on beach - Sydney Morning Herald

Human remains found on beach

April 06, 2012

Human remains believed to be those of a diver who died after being mauled by a shark last week have been found at a beach south of Perth.

Sergeant Gerry Cassidy said police were at Preston Beach, north of Bunbury, this morning after a ranger contacted them about the discovery of the remains.

Peter Kurmann, 33, was diving with his brother about 1.6 kilometres off Stratham Beach, just south of Bunbury, when a shark about four metres long attacked just before 9.30am on Saturday.

His mauled body was pulled from the water by his brother, assisted by the crew of a nearby boat, and taken south to Busselton, where he was declared dead.

Fisheries officials later said the shark was likely to have been a great white.

Sergeant Cassidy said it was suspected the remains were of Mr Kurmann and his family had been contacted.

They will be examined by a forensic team and officially identified next week, he said.

Doctor reveals suicide attempts rife in detention - Yahoo!7 News

A doctor has spoken out about the shocking instances of suicide attempts, drug overdoses and self-harm at a Darwin immigration detention centre.

The doctor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has told ABC1's that at least one person a week is trying to take their own life and many more detainees are on prescription medication for insomnia and depression.

Darwin's Northern Immigration Detention Centre is the temporary home for up to 116 asylum seekers.

The doctor, who has worked at the centre, says there is a communal sense of helplessness among inmates.

"A lot of them say, 'I'm depressed. I can't sleep, I can't eat. I can't find motivation to exercise or learn English or do anything constructive.' But a lot of them in terms of the most severe people have asked me to end their life," he said.

"After six to 12 months, most people have attempted some sort of self-harm, either due to complete loss of hope or because they hold on to the small hope that that might lead to a faster end to their detention."

He says many detainees starve or cut themselves and many attempt hanging or to overdose on drugs.

The drugs most commonly prescribed are for depression, psychosis and insomnia.

"Normally they get one week's supply at a time. If you know other people and you're able to ask, 'Can I have your tablets? Can I have one of your tablets?' In time, you can collect quite a lot," he said.

And he has told of disturbing cases of self harm.

"A gentlemen was in a room with the health staff and he stood up and apparently took out a light bulb and chewed it in front of them as a measure of desperation to show them how upset he was at his continued detention. This the second time he's done this in a month and both times he expected to die as a result of it," he said.

Enormous strain

As many as five detainees a day from Darwin's three detention centres are sent to the Royal Darwin Hospital.

Paul Bauert, from the Australian Medical Association NT, says it is putting enormous strain on medical staff and resources.

"Many of the patients present with some mental health problems. They may be chronic anxiety, depression and many are on anti-depressant medications," he said.

"Some are presenting with psychiatric illness and require admission to our psychiatric ward. Some are presenting with injuries from accidents, some are presenting with injuries from self-harm."

Dr Bauert says it is a frustrating situation.

"We have a policy which is foisting unfortunate detainees onto us. The other frustration is the fact that once we recognise the mental health issues and once we're able to exclude organic pathology, we are immediately sending these people back to exactly the same lock-up facility," he said.

The doctor who has worked in Darwin's detention centre says it is a situation that is doing untold damage to thousands of people every year.

"Ninety per cent plus are found to be refugees and that's after sometimes two, three years in detention," he said.

"And they bear the scars of detention, all of them. Some of them are physical, but most of them are mental scars."

The Immigration Department has told the ABC: "We try to ensure people remain in detention for as little time as possible and ensure that they are treated humanely and have appropriate access to health and mental health care.

"We have introduced new mental health policies and expanded mental health staffing. We have a psychological support (PSP) which is in operation for all people in detention."

The latest information detailing the severe mental health issues among detainees comes on the eve of a parliamentary report into the nation's immigration detention network.

The inquiry has received more than 3,500 submissions.

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young is deputy chair of the inquiry.

"It is a system that is inherently broken. The Government needs to act and needs to act on the recommendations in this report," she said. Wright By:kevin,Tags:ed hardyed hardy clothingChristian Audigier

Qld Govt criticised for political appointment over Costello - ABC Online

MARK COLVIN: Peter Costello has denied that his assignment to audit Queensland's books is a case of jobs for the boys.

Labor's calling the former treasurer's appointment the latest in a string of political appointments by the new LNP Government.

The former treasurer - and two other commissioners - will examine Queensland's $62 billion debt and the loss of its Triple A rating. He'll also consider Queensland's share of the GST, which he set up as treasurer.

Annie Guest reports from Brisbane.

ANNIE GUEST: Peter Costello wants to contribute to the recovery of what he calls a "great state". And his favourite thing about Queensland is??

PETER COSTELLO: The journalists.

(Laughter)

ANNIE GUEST: Mr Costello will help lead an audit of Queensland's books, along with Dr Doug McTaggart, who heads QIC, the Government's investment arm and Professor Sandra Harding who is the vice chancellor of James Cook University.

The new Treasurer, Tim Nicholls, says they'll also make policy recommendations.

TIM NICHOLLS: The reason we need to do that is at the end of this year, this financial year, Queensland will be $62 billion in debt. The deficit is projected to continue to increase.

Spending has continued to grow and services are suffering as a result.

ANNIE GUEST: Since being elected last Saturday, the LNP Government has appointed former Liberal MP and factional player, Michael Caltabiano, along with the son of a former deputy premier to head departments, and a former Brisbane City Council colleague is the coordinator general.

In Opposition, the LNP accused Labor of making political appointments. Now the Labor Opposition leader, Annastacia Palaszczuk, is making similar accusations.

ANNASTACIA PALASZCZUK: Essentially what we have seen is another day, another appointment of an LNP mate.

This commission of inquiry must be independent. It must be transparent. But this is simply not happening.

ANNIE GUEST: Queensland has lost its Triple-A credit rating and has one of the country's highest unemployment rates. But earlier this week, one of Australia's big four banks told AM things are already picking up.

Senior ANZ economist, Cherelle Murphy said the LNP's plan to balance the books is sensible, however...

CHERELLE MURPHY: I think the new Government's actually inherited an economy in pretty good shape and that's largely of course due to the resources boom. That said the economic performance as I say is going to be very patchy.

ANNIE GUEST: Is there then an element of fortunate timing here for the Liberal National Party? Could the state's economic recovery happen regardless of who's in power?

CHERELLE MURPHY: I think to some extent that's right. The momentum in the economy is certainly there. We've seen very strong growth in the fourth quarter and we saw growth, state product rise by almost 10 per cent.

ANNIE GUEST: But Mr Nicholls points to debt rising to $85 billion by 2015.

TIM NICHOLLS: I would put to you that that doesn't sound to me like a government with finances on a trajectory to be repaired.

ANNIE GUEST: One of the auditors' tasks will be to advise the Government on its GST carve up. Mr Costello was asked whether the GST formula is fair to the resource states.

PETER COSTELLO: That formula is currently under review and I'd want to see the formula being fair to all of the states. I may be one of the few people that even understands the formula. I'm not sure I do but if I don't I don't think there's anybody else. It's so complicated.

JOURNALIST: So what responsibility do you take for that formula that is the subject of much complaint?

PETER COSTELLO: Well I put the agreement in place on the GST. I set the formula up. I take a great responsibility for setting the formula up. But that doesn't mean that the formula can't be reviewed.

ANNIE GUEST: Mr Costello will work on the audit two days a week. And then will he offer Tony Abbott similar services if he wins government?

PETER COSTELLO: Look I don't go around offering myself. You know as Mr Nicholls will tell you, I didn't offer myself.

TIM NICHOLLS: I had to go ask him.

PETER COSTELLO: I responded to a strong arm.

ANNIE GUEST: The auditors will submit an interim report in June, before a final report next February.

MARK COLVIN: Annie Guest.

Day and night security on Vic trains urged - Ninemsn

Melbourne youth worker Les Twentyman says the newly established Protection Services Officers (PSOs) should be manning Melbourne's train stations day and night instead of starting at 6pm.

His call comes after a woman in her 60s was stabbed at Sunshine station just after 4pm (AEDT) Tuesday when she tried to break up a fight.

She was taken to hospital in a serious condition after being stabbed in the torso while a 15-year-old girl was also stabbed and is in a stable condition.

Police are questioning two teenagers about the stabbings.

"With the Victorian government pouring millions of dollars into more police and PSOs it should be their role to be manning the stations the whole time the system is in operation," Mr Twentyman said.

He said recent violence on Melbourne trains had all occurred before 6pm.

Last month, the first 18 of the 940 PSOs promised by the Baillieu government began their first shifts at Flinders Street and Southern Cross stations.

Man, 82, found guilty in 1992 WA killing - Ninemsn

An 82-year-old man has been found guilty of the manslaughter of a woman in Perth 20 years ago.

Ronald Leslie Pennington stood trial in the Supreme Court in Perth for murdering 41-year-old Cariad Anderson-Slater in July 1992, but a jury on Tuesday found him not guilty on that charge.

The jury deliberated for a day before finding Pennington guilty of the alternative charge of manslaughter.

Pennington had been extradited from Tasmania to Perth to face trial.

Ms Anderson-Slater's case was reopened after her skeletal remains were found in February last year in the backyard of a house in Woodlands, in Perth's north, where Pennington lived at the time she went missing.

The court heard Ms Anderson-Slater was an alcoholic and turned up drunk at Pennington's house the day she disappeared.

Pennington's lawyer argued that Ms Anderson-Slater's husband, David Slater, was the more likely killer and had framed Pennington, but Mr Slater denied that in court.

The prosecution said the idea that Mr Slater had killed his wife and buried her in Pennington's backyard without anyone knowing was highly implausible.

Pennington will be sentenced by Justice John McKechnie on Wednesday.

Sordid sporting secrets revealed in court by Charmyne Palavi - The Daily Telegraph

Charmyne Palavi is suing 2UE for defamation Claims?they suggested she was running brothel service She revealed NRL players used Facebook to pick up girls

IT is about a Brisbane tanning salon owner attempting to clear her muddied name but a defamation case launched by Charmyne Palavi against radio station 2UE has also shone a light on to the seedy side of football groupies and hook-ups.

Footballers would routinely "hook up" with girls using Facebook as a dating site before "courting" them with sexually explicit photos and texts, the District Court in Sydney heard yesterday.

The court was shown unaired ABC footage in which Ms Palavi listed pornographic videos, suggestive messages and pictures of scantily clad footballers that numerous high-profile players had sent her.

The 41-year-old mother of three, who has confessed to sexual liaisons with several professional footballers, told the court she first met one high-profile player she later had a relationship with through Myspace or Facebook.

She later received a video from the representative player's phone of him masturbating - something she said she "didn't want to see".

Texts allegedly from another first-grade footballer that said "f ... I'm always horny".

Ms Palavi is suing 2UE for defamation after on-air comments former presenter Steve Price and entertainment reporter Peter Ford made in 2009.

She claims they wrongly suggested she was running a brothel service connecting NRL players and underage girls for sex.

The broadcast followed a tell-all interview by Ms Palavi on ABC's Four Corners in which she revealed NRL players used Facebook to pick up girls.

In an excerpt played to the court, Ms Palavi told interviewer Sarah Ferguson: "I have players contacting me going 'I'm getting a lot of friend requests from your page, they're all female, they're all hot, keep them coming'."

In never-screened footage she identified the source of the comment as a prominent footballer who she yesterday said was the only player who asked her to "keep them coming".

"I wasn't keeping anything coming.

"Girls would friend request me and then they would in turn go through my friend list and friend request (the player)," she said.

In more unseen footage, Ms Palavi likened Facebook to online dating service RSVP.

She said anyone who couldn't "pick up" on the site "wasn't trying".

"Facebook gives these players access to a heap of girls at once," she said.

"Especially the married (players), the ones with partners, they don't have to be seen going up to girls in pubs or in clubs."

Ms Palavi denied in the court yesterday any footballers had approached her to contact women on her Facebook page or that her profile was being used to help women meet players for sex.

The defamation hearing continues before a jury today.

Palmer accuses CIA of sabotaging mining - ABC Online

Print Email

Australian Broadcasting Corporation

Broadcast: 20/03/2012

Reporter: Tom Iggulden

Billionaire mine owner Clive Palmer has accused the CIA of funding environmental groups opposed to his latest coal venture, and accused the Greens of treason.

EMMA ALBERICI, PRESENTER: Billionaire mine owner Clive Palmer has accused the CIA of trying to destroy the Australian coal industry, and he believes the Greens are guilty of treason for helping.

In a wide-ranging performance today, he's expressed his respect for Treasurer Wayne Swan, who recently claimed that Mr Palmer was undermining democracy.

The Queensland-based mining magnate also says he's not worried about the Government's mining tax passed through the Senate last night, but his fellow mining bosses confirmed they're considering a High Court challenge to the new laws.

Political correspondent Tom Iggulden reports from Canberra.

TOM IGGULDEN, REPORTER: The Prime Minister's got her tail up after last night's Senate session.

JULIA GILLARD, PRIME MINISTER: I've put up with months and months of scoffing about the minerals resource rent tax. Guess what? It went through the Senate last night.

TONY ABBOTT, OPPOSITION LEADER: The Labor Party always chooses to celebrate when they're hitting us with a big new tax.

JULIA GILLARD: I think I'm entitled to go scoreboard, and at the moment it's running more in my favour than yours.

TOM IGGULDEN: But Liberal state premiers are trying to even up the tally. They're daring the Government to follow through on its threat to punish them financially if they put up their mining taxes.

COLIN BARNETT, WA PREMIER: If we choose to raise the price in the future we will do so regardless of any opinion of Wayne Swan, Julia Gillard or Penny Wong.

TOM IGGULDEN: The Federal Government's agreed to reimburse miners for state royalty increases, like the billion dollar raise proposed in NSW, potentially putting a hole in Wayne Swan's budget.

MIKE BAIRD, NSW TREASURER: He is misleading the people of Australia if he is saying that they don't think NSW is actually putting forward a royalty proposal. It's in our budget papers, it is happening.

TOM IGGULDEN: Meanwhile Andrew Forrest's Fortescue Metals says it's preparing a High Court challenge to the tax.

PETER MUERS, FORTESCUE METALS: We certainly have briefed counsel, and we're waiting for their advice on how we move forward.

COLIN BARNETT: If there is a High Court challenge, the State Government will intervene in that and present the state's point of view, which is to oppose the mining tax.

TOM IGGULDEN: The Opposition Leader says the tax will be more popular outside Australia than in it.

TONY ABBOTT: They will be celebrating in Canada, they will be celebrating in Chile, they will be celebrating in parts of Africa because jobs and investment that would be going to Australia will now be going to other countries.

CLIVE PALMER, MINING MAGNATE: We care about this country. It's under attack by foreign interests.

TOM IGGULDEN: Billionaire coal miner Clive Palmer says he's got proof the American secret service is trying to destroy Australia's coal industry.

CLIVE PALMER: I think they want to promote their commodities at the expense of ours. Drew Hutton is a tool of the US government and Rockefeller, and so are the Greens and everything they say.

TOM IGGULDEN: Mr Hutton is president of "Lock the Gate", which is fighting coal seam gas mining in Queensland, and a contributor to a Greenpeace strategy paper called Stopping the Australian Coal Export Boom.

The American non-profit group Rockefeller Family Trust funded the paper. Mr Palmer cited a US report into Watergate and US attempts to assassinate foreign leaders is proof of a link to the CIA.

CLIVE PALMER: We only have to go back to read the Church report in the 1970s and to reads the report to the US Congress which sets up the Rockefeller organisation as a conduit of CIA funding.

TOM IGGULDEN: And he says US covert influence in Australia is nothing new.

CLIVE PALMER: You go back to the Whitlam dismissal, have a read of that. OK, you asked for an example, that's been documented. You go back and have a look at that. That was certainly dismissed. I can tell you that, because I was aware of it at the time.

TOM IGGULDEN: The Greenpeace paper calls for court action and media strategy, and using the Greens to advance the anti-coal cause politically.

CLIVE PALMER: I think the Greens in the late-coming state election all their candidates should resign because they're being funded by an offshore political power. It's tantamount ro treason.

TOM IGGULDEN: Bob Brown denies the Greens take money from the CIA.

BOB BROWN, GREENS LEADER: This is serious stuff. This is a serious funder of the Liberal National Party. This is heartland Liberal National Party Queensland, and this is that sort of stupidity from Clive Palmer, with Campbell Newman, just has to rule right out.

TOM IGGULDEN: Mr Palmer is a prominent donor to the Coalition, whose members are already distancing themselves from the comments.

SCOTT BUCHHOLTZ, LIBERAL NATIONAL PARTY MP: Look, Kim, it's, uh ... I haven't spoken to Clive on the issue personally. No, I ... that's a tough one. That's really tough.

MATHIAS CORMAN, LIBERAL SENATOR: On the face of it, it sounds out there, but obviously I don't really know where he's coming from.

TOM IGGULDEN: As for the mining tax, Clive Palmer says he isn't worried about it because he probably won't have to pay it. Says the man who last week threatened to challenge the carbon tax in the High Court, "I don't care about any tax, it won't affect my life one way or the other."

Murder charge over officer's death - Sydney Morning Herald

Murder charge over officer's death

Lisa Davies March 21, 2012

IT WAS all over in a matter of seconds. Senior Constable David Rixon had allegedly spotted the disqualified driver behind the wheel of a car and pulled him over for a random breath test.

What happened next will probably be determined in court. Michael Alan Jacobs, 48, now faces a murder charge.

Mr Jacobs, from South Tamworth, was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition immediately after the incident, and has remained there under police guard since the fatal event on March 2.

He had only recovered sufficiently by yesterday morning for homicide detectives carrying out the critical incident investigation to be allowed to speak to him. He declined to participate in a formal interview, and the murder charge was formally laid.

Mr Jacobs did not face Newcastle Local Court yesterday where the case was briefly mentioned, and he was remanded in custody to reappear on May 16.

Homicide Squad Commander Superintendent Michael Willing told reporters police will allege Jacobs acted alone and was not in the company of another man arrested that day. The other man was released without charge.

Rozumiem go inaczej, inaczej odczuwam, inaczej demonstruj?.

Narastaj?cy terror spowodowa?, ?e w kraju zacz??y si? odradza? struktury polskiego podziemia, a las sta? si? jedynym schronieniem dla "?o?nierzy wykl?tych". Po wojnie trwa? zbrojny opór Polski podziemnej. Oddzia?y 6 Brygady Wileńskiej AK, cho? stale ubywa?o jej partyzantów, najd?u?ej dzia?a?y na Podlasiu, do jesieni 1952 r. Nie by?oby to jednak mo?liwe bez poparcia miejscowej ludno?ci. ?ona, Czes?awa Borychowska, dosta?a wtedy kar? 10 lat wi?zienia. Na mocy amnestii zwolniono j? po 4 latach. Do ostatnich swoich dni by?a prze?ladowana przez w?adze. Zmar?a w 1984 r. , nie doczekawszy oczyszczenia z zarzutów. Przed kamer? wyst?puj? s?dziwe ju? dzisiaj dzieci Borychowskich, którym nie dane by?o zazna? szcz??liwego dzieciństwa i m?odo?ci w wolnej ojczy?nie. W 1950 r. ca?a rodzina zosta?a aresztowana przez funkcjonariuszy UB. Najpierw zabrali do Soko?owa rodziców, w nocy przyjechali po dzieci. Najstarsza z rodzeństwa, Janina Tobiszewska z d. Borychowska, po kilkumiesi?cznym areszcie i brutalnym ?ledztwie zosta?a skazana na pó?tora roku. By?a prze?ladowana do lat 80. ?yli w milczeniu i zapomnieniu, z pokor? znosili swój los, o tamtych tragicznych i bolesnych sprawach bali si? mówi? nawet w?asnym dzieciom. Dokument by? prezentowany na festiwalu w Niepokalanowie w 2009 r. , a tak?e podczas obchodów 60. rocznicy ?mierci kpt. W?adys?awa ?ukasiuka ps. M?ot, 17 wrze?nia 2009 r. w Siedlcach. Uroczysto?ci zaszczyci?y sw? obecno?ci? bohaterki "Snów straconych, snów odzyskanych", córki Mariana Borychowskiego, Janina i Teresa. Ku czci poleg?ych 30 wrze?nia 1950 r. partyzantów VI Brygady Wileńskiej AK w 2001 r. zosta? ods?oni?ty w Borychowie pomnik, na którym wymienione jest równie? nazwisko zmar?ego m?czeńsk? ?mierci? Mariana Borychowskiego.

@Qiudo:

Jedna wielka ?ciema. Kiedy? mama za?atwi?a worek tego gówna z MPO, by?o to z 7 lat temu. Posypali?my chodniki w ogrodzie, na schodach do gara?u i przed domem JEDEN raz.

W reporta?u wyst?powali hurtownicy.

Badania s? przeprowadzane okresowo i dotycz? najcz??ciej wielu ton (setek). W przypadku tych oszustów wszystkie dokumenty jakie przys?ali by?y albo kupione albo sfa?szowane.

Court's 'no dice' to Bob Katter - Courier Mail

ELECTION COVERAGE: Bob Katter loses his bid and LNP candidates past porn site accusations

Bob Katter Bob Katter of Katter's Australian Party after learning about his party's failed court bid to change the ballot papers for the March 24 Queensland election. Picture: Lyndon Mechielsen Source: The Australian

THERE'S a fabulous rap song by Malo Luafutu, known as Scribe, released 10 years ago called Not Many which asks the pertinent question: How many dudes you know roll like this?

The answer, of course, is "not many, if any".

This came to mind when wondering if Bob Katter ever had any chance of winning his case in Queensland Supreme Court to fix up a mistake his Australian Party made late last year when registering its name with the Electoral Commission.

Chances? Not many, if any.

The Court of Appeal in Brisbane yesterday rejected an application by Katter's Australian Party to have 7.1 million ballot papers destroyed, and reprinted with its full name.

The party had argued the decision to use its abbreviated name The Australian Party could confuse people and cost it votes.

It is quite likely there was an honest mistake made last year but asking a court to fix your mistakes was never going to work.

Katter's opportunistic - and expensive - court bid was all about creating the conditions for a big opening to the room called victimhood.

Katter and his party almost certainly knew they were on a hiding to nothing in the court but it would then allow them to blame the system for any political problems or setbacks they might encounter.

With the glint of conspiracy in his eyes, Katter declared political forces were working to entrench the two-party system.

"They are determined that you only have a Woolworths and Coles in politics," Katter said.

"The system has determined that that will happen. I tell you, you're making a mistake because the people in this country have always ended up winning, in the end."

He likened the election to a race, where the major parties were at the starting line, and the KAP was 20m behind.

Bob Katter's party would benefit from having his name on the ballot papers instead of just The Australian Party, but this has been a publicity godsend for the federal MP and his compadres.

Just as Pauline Hanson was able to blame the system after she was convicted and jailed for what was an electoral parking ticket, Katter will use this to expand his stump speech about how the system is rigged.

If, on March 24, Katter and his merry men and women do worse than they are boasting - he reckons he will form government, which just might be a stretch - he can now claim it wasn't the party's fault. It was the system rigged against the little guy.

Just listen to his words when he was speaking from his new spiritual home of Kingaroy - the peanut capital and centre of all things Joh Bjelke-Petersen.

"Just remember, if we were the underdogs before, we're hugely the underdogs now," Katter said.

@puchacz_rolny:
Nienawidz?? Przesadzasz. I ten drugi kretyn, filozof z nazwy i stalinowski "ekspert" UE. I jeszcze paru pomniejszych debili by si? znalaz?o. Ale takie przyg?upy to plankton.

Przywódcy, czyli rz?d, ministrowie - to ludzie, którzy podobnie jak gangsterzy - po prostu nami gardz?. Liczy si? biznes. My dla nich to frajerstwo do skubania. Obchodzimy ich mniej ni? wiadro gnij?cych psich glutów. Nienawidzisz tylko ludzi, których si? boisz. Oni si? nas nie boj?. Mo?emy im skoczy?. Frajerstwo b?dzie skubane po s?dny dzień.

I wiesz co? Ja t? pogard? troch? rozumiem. Patrz?c na wyniki wyborów - ci którzy na nich drugi raz zag?osowali to na prawd? bezmózgie debile. T?pe frajerstwo nadaj?ce si? w sam raz do skubania i darmowej pracy.

Nienawidzi? tych osób to my mo?emy - bo obrywamy za nich. Te? jeste?my skubani.

Dobra, przesadzi?em - mieliby?my opcj?, gdyby nasz g?os chocia?by w takich wyborach si? liczy?.

Oczywi?cie by?o to ?mieszne, naiwne, bezsensowne. Zaczyna mnie m?czy? ta ca?a dyskusja.

Ca?y czas chodzi mi po g?owie fragment jakiego? ci??kiego filmu o holokau?cie. Jak to wygl?da?o - wiemy. Krótko - planowa i masowa eksterminacja. Z tego filmu utkn??a mi w pami?ci scena, w której ?yd wysy?any do obozu koncentracyjnego mówi "Nie mo?ecie nam tego robi?, jeste?my lud?mi, mamy prawa". Groteska w czystej postaci. Cynicznie rzecz bior?c - powiedzia? nazistom najlepszy dowcip II wojny.

Dok?adnie tak wygl?da z nami. Wydaje nam si? ?e jeste?my lud?mi, ?e mamy jakie? prawa, ?e rz?d powinien reprezentowa? nasze interesy, albo chocia?by interesy kraju. B??d.

Jeste?my potrzebni okupantowi jako darmowa si?a robocza. To wi?ksze przedsi?wzi?cie, z prawdziwym rozmachem. Niespe?nione marzenie wielu psychopatycznych dyktatorów. Model totalitarnego państwa który dzia?a sam. Niewolnicy, którzy pilnuj? si? na wzajem sami. W dodatku niewolnicy z których wi?kszo?? kocha swoich panów.

Nasi panowie b?d? sobie dowolnie skraca? smycz i niszczy? dowolnych niewolników zgodnie z w?asnym uznaniem. Przed w?a?cicielem - nigdy i w ?aden sposób.

Nawet wg Was to najlepszy, a przynajmniej jedyny s?uszny system. W demokracji racj? jest zdanie wi?kszo?ci. Wg wi?kszo?ci nasz rz?d reprezentuje nasze interesy.
